Our brain is made of 75% water!
A Human brain consists of about 100 Billion neurons!
Recent studies have shown a positive correlation between the participation in the arts and
BRAIN FUNCTION!!!
BRAIN POWER UNLIMITED!
Scientists once believed that the brain cannot be changed, but is set for life. We now know this is not the case. In fact our brains are extremely good at adapting new ways of solving tasks when given the proper training!
ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS TO GET STARTED
Through brain imagining scans we have learned that the weak side of the brain will get faster and more active through stimulation. So anybody can improve their brain power- no matter how old!
Neuroscience and related fields have helped us understand how the brain works. Studies have shown that making art is fundamental to good brain function. Art training can be the best brain training!
Practising the Arts promotes
creativity, problem-solving skills, emotional intelligence, cognitive skills and social development. When students have a positive attitude, they are self-driven, confident learners, who know how to find solutions.
The left hemisphere of the brain is sequential, the right hemisphere is simultaneous. Art making is the ideal way to train both sides of the brain, because it makes both sides work together. When we make use of all srategies available to us, we can perform at a much higher level.
HOW THE OPEN STUDIO CONCEPT WORKS
The open studio concept works with a maximum of artistic freedom. Creativity can flow without being restricted. Children and adults explore techniques which can be used to translate concepts and ideas into an art piece. Through the guidance of the artist, each participant is able to choose art materials and a method to make his or her own artwork.
WHAT'S BEHIND THE METHOD
Our courses are conducted according to the latest cognitive and brain-based teaching methods, which help children develop their creativity and cognitive skills and the confidence to independently apply learnt art techniques. With the open studio concept we are able to work with every child individually. This fosters independent thinking, exploration and discovery. Each child is given assistance and support throughout the lesson, yet at the same time do we encourage choice and exploration, so children can experience the art making process as a creative journey. In other words, we focus on the process, not the outcome.
WHY WE DO IT THIS WAY
The open studio concept gives children a maximum of individual attention. Every child is assessed and then an individual plan is set up for the child to follow. This plan contains the particular projects that the child will work on.
What the benefits are: We are working with each child individually and every child’s progress is documented in a portfolio/ folder. This folder is the basis for the close cooperation between the instructor and the child. Children can track and shape their own artistic development, which boosts creativity, motivation and gives a sense of accomplishment.
WHY IS ART MAKING YOU SMART?
Numerous research studies show that well designed arts experiences produce positive academic and social effects as well as assist in the development of the of critical thinking academic skills, basic and advanced literacy, and numeracy. In the US research shows that students who took art classes had higher maths, verbal and composite SAT scores than students who did not take art classes.
Our courses are made up of
theme-units, each strengthening and developing chosen cognitive abilities. One course will have four 1.5hr lessons. There are also 3hrs or 5hrs workshops and intensive 4 days holiday workshops. For companies we have weekend or half-day creative seminars.
We work with schools, youth organisations and hold our own classes at our studio.

MOVE TO TRAIN YOUR BRAIN!
The brain cannot learn unless the rest of the body helps out. Touch, vision, smell, sounds, are being transmitted to the brain and translated into the approbriate responses. Unless we challenge our bodies, we cannot truely learn. Art making requires all the senses to become involved.
